Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's 'Uliyin Osai' movie has won the prestigious Oscar Award.
Oscar, the 80th Annual Academy Awards are supposed to be announced on February 22nd 2009 5 PT/ 8ET. But in its 80 years of history, this is the very first time, the Academy has announced the award much earlier than February, almost 6 months ahead, in order to announce the award to the Tamil movie 'Uliyin Osai'.
Academy's First Vice President Robert Rehme says this is the toughest time on their part to decide the award between two movies. Surprisingly both of the movies are from Tamil - called as 'Kollywood'. The first one is 'Uliyin Osai' and the second one is 'Dasavatharam'.
According to Rehme,"Really we felt very hard to choose the best amongst those 2. And finally we decided to give it to 'Uliyin Osai', because we can expect movie like 'Dasavatharam' regularly from the same actor. He will not change his attitude and for sure he will kill all the audiences in the same manner in all his forthcoming movies- not only audiences, but also the producers. But in the case of 'Uliyin Osai', even if Muthuvel Karunanidhi wants to take one more film of the same kind, no producers will come to take risk. So we decided to give the WHOLE academy year for this year to 'Uliyin Osai'. Otherwise we will miss the chance to give him the academy award. All academy awards in all section goes to 'Uliyin Osai' this year. We felt sorry with Kamal Hasan and we hope he will get the Academy awards like Uliyin Osai for his next movie 'Marma Yogi'.
